Walter “Wally” Duarte
November 3, 1942 to July 2, 2017

Walter Duarte of Roslindale, MA passed on Sunday, July 2, 2017. He was the son of the late Peter J. Duarte, Sr. and Eugenia (Mendes) Wilson. Wally was a United States Army Veteran. He was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts and raised in Boston where he remained throughout his life. He was a mechanic by trade and an all around handy-man who loved collecting and building model cars and planes. He loved his solitude and quiet times, fishing and being out on the water. He was also known for speaking his mind.

He is survived by his son, Walter Duarte, Jr., daughter-in-law Michelle Duarte, Grandsons, Erik James Duarte and Jeffrey Dylan Duarte of Manchester New Hampshire; his sisters: Diana Duarte-Comstock of Attleboro, MA, Josephine Duarte of Boston, MA, Sandra DiGaetano of New Bedford, MA, Geraldine Reid of Norwood, MA, Debra Reid of Attleboro, MA, Tina Williams of Framingham, MA and Linda Wilson-Saini of Fitchburg, MA; his brothers: Milton Mendes of Dallas, TX, Raymond Duarte of New Bedford, MA, Curtis Wilson of New Bedford, MA and Michael Wilson of Springfield, MA. He was pre-deceased by his beloved brother Peter Joseph Duarte Jr., he also leaves behind his dear friend Brenda Hamilton of Roslindale, MA, and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday July 7, from 10:00 to 11:45 am in The Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A graveside service with military honors will be held in The Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA at 1:45 pm. www.lawlerfuneralhome.com
