Obituary

Edward A. Sarkisian of Weston, an engineer for 40 years, died on Sunday, June 18 at his home in Weston, Massachusetts. He was 89 years old.

Born in Union City, NJ to Dicran and Annoush Sarkisian, Mr. Sarkisian graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn in 1955 (BSEE) and Northeastern University in 1966 (MSEE). He served in WWII in the U S Army stationed in Germany.

Mr. Sarkisian began his engineering career in 1955, and worked at Sylvania and RCA. At RCA, he received a patented invention that was issued in 12 foreign countries. The invention was for the measurement of low leakage currents in TV tubes.

He went on to work for the federal government and worked at NASA, the Department of Transportation and ended his career at Hanscom Air Force Base working for the Air Force.

He has been a member of GIDEONS International since 1979, and was a State Cabinet Officer for over eight years. Since 1958, he had been a member of The First Armenian Church where he served as Moderator, Deacon, and Sunday School Superintendent. On Father’s Day 1997, the church honored Mr. Sarkisian with the Best Father of the Year Award.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Marni (Marguerite Nahigian), a son James Edward (Jamie) of Waltham and his fiancée Ann S. Murphy. He was predeceased by his sister Stella Paboojian and brother Charles Sarkisian of Fort Lee, NJ. He leaves many relatives including his nephew Leon Paboojian and his wife Kathy of Rivervale, NJ, his sister-in-law Carol Nahigian of Arlington, MA and her family; Thomas Nahigian and his wife Armine, Susan Duffy and her husband Robert, and Laura O'Connell and her husband Michael; his nephews Victor Nahigian and his wife Robin, and Robert Nahigian and his wife Donna. both of Weston, MA, and their families.

Visiting Hours at Aram Bedrosian Funeral Home, 558 Mount Auburn St., Watertown, MA on Thursday June 22 from 4 to 7 PM.

A Memorial Service will be held at First Armenian Church, 380 Concord Ave., Belmont, MA on Saturday June 24 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
