Dr. John J. Carroll, Jr., age 67, of Natick, formerly of Newton, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John & Claire (Delmonte) Carroll.
Dr. Carroll graduated from Newton South High School in 1968 and was a graduate of Newton Junior College receiving his Associate's Degree. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Boston State and then earned his Doctorate in Education from Boston University, as well as earning post-doctorate certificates from Harvard University. Dr. Carroll was a retired Professor of Education at LaSalle College in Newton, Curry College of Milton and several other local universities. His passions included spending time at the ocean and sailing.
He was the beloved husband of the late Deborah (Cannell) Carroll; devoted father of Christine McMahon & her husband Stephen of Leominster, Sean Carroll & his wife Kelly (Gillis) of Newton and Andrew Carroll of Newton; loving grandfather of Julia, Lauren, Hayley, Declan and Brennan; dear brother of Patricia Adler & her husband Mitch of PA and James Carroll & his wife Kim of VA and uncle of one nephew and two nieces. He is also survived by his dear companion, Donna Stone of Blackstone.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Patrick's Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at 10:00 AM.
Visiting hours at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, NATICK COMMON, on Monday, June 19, 2017, from 4:00-8:00 PM.
Interment services will be private.
