Obituary


Norman Arthur Wood, 81, of Sunset, passed away on June 2, 2017 after a courageous battle with heart disease.
Norman was born in Deer Isle on July, 19, 1935. He attended Stonington High School before joining the Army where he was a machine gunner and paratrooper.
He was married to his wife, Lornia (Cote), for 59 years. They lived in CT for many years, but then moved home to the island where he went lobster/scallop fishing, clammed, and painted houses. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and being with his family. He was also hard to beat in a game of horseshoes! Norman is survived by his wife Lornia, two daughters, Darlene and Kathy, two sons, Jack and Don, his brother, Edmund Wood & family, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Norman is preceded in death by his parents, Norman C. Wood and Electa M. (Eaton) Wood, sister Betty Henderson, brother Maurice Wood, and two sons, George and Daniel. There will be a military graveside service for family and close friends at Hillside Cemetery, Sunset at a later date.
