Mary R. Whitley (MacNeil) age 96 formerly of Canton, of Hingham passed away peacefully April 30th surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, she was raised in S. Boston and attended the Gate of Heaven School. She has lived in Hingham for the last 2 years and previously lived in Canton for over 20 years. She enjoyed sewing and baking and was a talented artist who enjoyed oil painting. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 69 years, George H. Whitley. They were true companions and shared a remarkable marriage. Mary was the exemplary mother of Ellen L. Whitley of S. Weymouth, Robert B. Whitley and his wife Janet of Canton, Mary J. Whitley-Collins of Scituate, Mark Whitley and his wife Maryann of Quincy and the late Paul and Joan Whitley. Sister and confidant of John MacNeil of Scituate and the late Margaret McGowan, Augustus MacNeil and Joseph MacNeil. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Linden Ponds Scholarship Program 203 Linden Ponds Way, Hingham, MA 02043. | |||||
