James F. Gillis age 82 of Stoughton passed away April 25th at the VA Medical Center in Brockton surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, he was raised in Hyde Park and graduated from Hyde Park High School. He served in the Army during the Korean War and worked as a Salesman for Steel Span in Avon for many years before retiring. He was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and loved spending time with his family. Beloved husband of the late Frances E. (O’Neill). Father of Ellen M. Gillis and her fiancé Kip Kransdorf of Sudbury, John F. Gillis and his wife Julie of Milton and Jennifer C. Kehrmeyer and her husband Kevin of Wrentham. Grandfather of Lila and June Gillis and Abby Kehrmeyer. Brother of Elizabeth Gillis and Jacqueline Woods both of Dedham and the late Thomas and John Gillis. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Sunday 2-6 pm. Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church Stoughton Monday morning at 10. Burial VA National Cemetery, Bourne Monday afternoon at 2:30. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Greater Boston Food Bank 70 S. Bay Ave Boston, MA 02188.
