William B. McPherson, Jr. age 94 of Canton passed away April 8th surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Dorchester (St Peters parish), Bill graduated from Boston English High and then continued on to Wentworth Institute. In 1941 he joined the Carpenters Union and worked various projects before he entered the Navy flight program in 1943 and graduated as a fighter pilot. In 1945 he married Regina and left the Navy as a full Lieutenant. They moved to Canton in 1951 and Bill worked in acoustical contracting until 1962 when he established Central Ceilings. After turning over the day to day operations he continued to stay active with the business. Some of the organizations Bill was involved with were: Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club, Boy Scouts as well as being a Board member at the Bank of Canton. In retirement Bill & Regina travelled extensively. He was also an avid card player, bread baker and pickle maker. He will be dearly missed. Beloved husband of the late Regina D.(Moran) Loving father of William B. III of Marshfield, Mark of Marshfield, Vincent of Brockton, Christine Dunphy of Hanover, Regina McPherson of Atlanta, Mary Goodwin of N.H., Edward of Marshfield, Joseph of Boston, Alice Hall of N.C. & Eleanor Shafer of N.H. Brother of Mary Mitchell of NM, & the late Helen Maguire, Carol Kennedy & Dorothy Drummey. Loving ‘Papa” to 18 grandchildren & 2 great-grandchildren. Also survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Tuesday 4-8 pm. Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton Wednesday at 12 noon. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Vincent De Paul Society c/o St. John the Evangelist Church 700 Washington St. Canton, MA 02021.
