Obituary

Rodney Wayne Gammon, age 51, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Riverside Health Care.

Born June 2, 1959 in Danville, he was the son of the late Roy Emerson Gammon, Jr. and Gloria Overby Snoke. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Roy Emerson Gammon, III. Mr. Gammon had been disabled his entire life and was a resident at Oak Grove Residential Care in Chatham prior to living at Riverside Health Care. He was of the Baptist faith. Rodney loved bingo, bowling, and the support day group. He also enjoyed collecting caps, wrestling figures, and pictures. He especially loved hamburgers.

The family would like to thank the south wing staff and his special friend and nurse Charlene, as well as Mr. Mays and Mr. Robertson.

Survivors include one brother: Ricky Gammon of Danville, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins, including a special cousin and caregiver, Patricia Williams, whom he called his sister.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 2 p.m. in Highland Burial Park, officiated by Rev. James Albert. The family will receive friends at the residence of his aunt, Betty Williams, 268 Park Circle, Danville, VA.
