With deepest condolences to Susan’s family for their loss. As I remember all the fun we had over the years I can hear her singing the Unicorn song. Heaven has a very special angel. Love, Diane and Tom

To the Family and friends of Susan, my deepest condolences and sympathies for your loss. I interacted extensively with Susan for about fifteen years on matters both big and small while she was employed at EBSCO. In short order she earned the mutually agreed upon moniker of “Most Favorite Account Rep in all the Land.” This as a result of her exceptional professionalism laced with abundant good humor, pithy verbiage, joyful approach to nearly everything (save perhaps flying) and her vibrant personality. It was a handful of years, hundreds of phone calls and a thousand e-mails before I had the privilege of actually meeting Susan during a company dinner for customers in Salem. The conversation at dinner did not disappoint and the subsequent conversations over the years expanded beyond work to include a wide range of subjects from family to food to travel, the merits of the happiest place on Earth vs. the sweetest place Earth, but none of which were discussed in any detail until she was sure I understood football. I thought I did; clearly I did not. Understanding Susan’s passion for football explained some of the seemingly subdued Monday’s after a difficult Sunday loss or an infuriating defeat snatched from the jaws of victory. I learned to wait a day before calling if the Patriot’s happened to lose. There are an abundance of humorous stories, fond memories, ridiculous e-mails and ludicrous projects involving Susan, all of which I will treasure; but I will mostly cherish her willingness to share in a good scheme. While working with many other people at EBSCO, I sought her advice as I occasionally encountered issues that needed to be addressed. Quietly. Discretely. Using her stealth, discretion and a deft personal touch, Susan was a willing participant of action on my behalf under the metaphorical cover of darkness. Welcome back soup to the previously sick, a thank you note placed on the desk of someone who had gone above and beyond, help with the appropriate flowers or plants to spruce up a workspace, suggesting appropriate gifts to small groups upon completion of a project, or even facilitating “chance” meetings so I could convey words of thanks and appreciation directly. Susan had a talent for working with people, a kindness and demeanor suited to any circumstance. I will always appreciate her sharing that talent with me while we were working together for many years. I consider myself fortunate to have known Susan and will always remember her generosity, humor, and kind words.

Susan was a bright light at EBSCO with her endless smile, optimistic spirit and ability to make everyone feel like they are the most important person in the room. We were blessed to have her in our lives and she will be deeply missed by all of us. She spoke of her family often and with great pride, particularly her grandchildren. Melissa D'Amato

Dear family and friends of Susan: I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Susan. I retired as Electronic Resources Librarian at California Univ of PA last summer after 23 years. Many of my early years included hours on the phone working with Susan as my EBSCO rep. Truth be told, a large part of those hours was the two of us becoming friends and talking about our families and New England (I grew up in NH and also graduated in 1972). I had the great pleasure to visit Ipswich and get a tour of EBSCO by Susan. We also met face to face at library conferences. When they reassigned her to other customers, the frequency of our chats diminished, but I would periodically call her just to talk as friends. Sadly, it was not too long ago that I thought about giving her a call. It is with great sadness that I realize that will not happen. Susan was a most marvelous person. I write to you all to let you know how much she meant to me, at first professionally, but then as a friend. Please accept my heartfelt condolences at such a loss. Very truly yours, Loring
