I met Mark through my deceased wife Cheryl Bliss whose brother and family were life long friends of Mark. Mark was a great guy and friend. He was a father figure to Cheryl’s son Aidan and was very supportive when Aidan became a US Marine. Mark will be solely missed and I offer my sincere condolences to Sue and his family and friends. My first time meeting Mark, I was 15 and constantly in & out of all kinds of trouble. He was working on my parents house & after meeting him and complimenting his hat, he took it off his head and put it on mine. From then on I was his apprentice, working by his side on all kinds of projects around Marblehead. He was a true header, who always took the time to get to know you as a person. That is how I will always remember him. RIP Mark.

While Mark and I went back at least 30 years, there are certainly folks who knew him better, for longer. Like virtually everyone in town, it was always a pleasure to see Mark, talk trash, toss a beer and be guaranteed a big smile the entire time. I can't remember anyone who, when you mention their name, the response is so unanimously positive, emphatically so. Sorry to have missed the tribute gathering last night, out of town until the 15th. Tyna went and represented us at least. Mark got mad at me once. I had hired him to renovate my kitchen in Swampscott. After assuring him he didn't need a work visa to cross the town line, we met to go over the plans. I'd drawn up a pretty full set which he really appreciated. But, as he looked closer he noticed all of the numbers looked odd....."Metric" I replied. Oh, he was pissed! I slid two metric tape measures I'd bought for him and said, "You're gunna love it!" Ok, so he didn't love it (!), but at about the half way point in the project he did sheepishly admit that it was a BIT easier....but that I was not off the hook! That huge grin on his face the whole time. If I had to take a snapshot of Mark to remember it would have been that exact moment.

My heartfelt sympathy to Sue and Mark's family and friends. I was always happy to be in Mark's presence when he visited with my children, Lanna and John and Amy. He always had a twinkle in his eye, a kind word, and was a caring and loving friend. May light perpetual shine upon him. Diane

Mark, You left us to soon. I have known you over 40 years and have lots of memories of things we did. Some good and some not so good but all quite memorable. {Always fun and laughable later on} It was always fun to give you your annual birthday phone call and see on my visits up to Marblehead. You will missed, but not forgotten. RIP my Friend.

Will miss you Mark. A lot of conversations passed back and forth between us all these years. The Tuesday golf crew will miss you. R.I.P. and hope you have the top down.

Love and miss you Mark. I will remember the many good times on land (shanty, Redd's Pond, Lime St) and sea. Thanks for being the man to teach my little Alex (now 27) how to pump beer from a keg and talk like a pirate -- shiver me timbers!
