We are truly saddened by Maria's passing, and we extend our sincere condolences. Maria was a superb partner whose dedication and vitality filled her classroom to the benefit of her students and school. But more importantly she was a wonderful person and friend. We will all miss her.

So sorry to hear of the passing of such a wonderful woman. Maria is part of the memories I have of very happy days growing up and competing for SHDTCG. She was one of the kindest people that I have ever known. I am happy that I had a chance a few years back to enjoy her company and reminisce about the old days with Maria and other girls from the Sacred Heart Drill Team. Please accept my and my husband’s deepest sympathy. May she Rest In Peace.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathies. Maria was the most upbeat wife, mom and friend. When you met her on the street in the grocery store it was a breath of fresh air and you knew you would leave with a smile. Our thoughts and prayers are with the extended Nelson family during this time. God Bless and Peace.

Dear Nelson family, I am so sorry to hear about Maria’s passing. As a new teacher starting out at Abigail Adams back in 1999, Maria was an incredible mentor to me. She would always go out of her way to help, and she’d always have a smile on her face. Though we’ve never met, I felt like I knew all of you because she would always share stories about her family that she loved so much. Maria was an exemplary teacher, role model, and colleague but an even better friend. Please know that her spirit lived on at Adams after she retired and will continue to do so in the Weymouth schools.

My heart is so sad for the loss of such a beautiful and loving person. I remember teaching with Maria at East Jr. High and we would occasionally meet in our shared hometown of Mansfield. She was always a joyful and very caring person.

What very sad new. Working with Maria in the WPS was a joy. She always brought her enthusiasm, caring and dedication to the task at hand and kept us laughing while we worked. Those of us who had the pleasure of knowing her will always hold fond memories of her. My deepest sympathies to family and friends.
