Dear Mikey. We want you to know from the Dick O’Keeffe family how much you mean to us. We will always remember your smiling face at the yacht club and how proud we were of you as your career and future grew. I recall how you watched all the sailing kids unobtrusively and discreetly, to the degree I always felt comfortable knowing that, in some way and in some fashion, my kids were safe and you always had your kind eye on them. We loved your professionalism and friendliness in helping us finally get a mooring after so many years but doing it the right way and the honest way. Mikey, I knew you as a boy. I watched you grow into a man. The truth is that you had the integrity at a young age by which few people live. To Mikey's family, Lance and I are heartbroken by the loss of your/our Mikey. We met Mikey when he was just a little guy on the HP pier running around with his posse which included my nephew Willy Sargent. I remember with fondness one Monday evening after the HPC youth dance we were driving Mikey home. When asked why he hadn't asked a girl to dance Mikey answered in his quiet thoughtful unusually deep voice for a 9ish year old, "I wasn't in the mood". Mikey grew into his deep kind voice and into a man you can be proud of. His Hyannis Port friends and all who knew him will miss him terribly. Taken from you unfairly too soon. So saddened hearing about this loss. Mike was one of the most amazing guys I’ve ever known. From track in high school to hanging down the cape to random phone calls about the latest 80s movie he had just gotten.
