Chief Carino brought a smiling face and a warm personality to the Somerville Court every day. He cared more about Probationers and their recovery than anything else. I miss our morning coffee and chatting about family and daily news. RIP Chief

"Dick" has gone to God where he will once again, walk, run and be with all those who knew and loved him; amongst those he meets will be his close friend "Sal" my beloved and deceased husband; once again the two friends will laugh together and share confidences. Most important they will celebrate a "shared" respect for a friendship that introduced Dick to the "love" of his life and would lead to his loving wife and devoted "family" who cared and shared "Dick" with the world. "All who knew Dick experienced the contemplation of the wisdom and depth of caring for others which "Dick" brought to everyone he knew and everything he did. "Walk, run and dance now where you now are Dick as you set joyfully with your gift of laughter in the Palm of the Hands of the Christ' and enjoy ONLY joy, peace and laughter!"

My cousin Dickie was certainly one of the greatest guys I have ever known, I worked with him at the restaurant in the 1960’s when he did it all, when he left I missed him ,and now I miss him even more.

Marianne and girls, my sincere condolences on the passing of the most Kind, wonderful and professional man. I fist met him as a child when I would accompany my father to work, ('Abe Bobrick', former Assistant Chief Probation Officer at the Somerville District Court)--on snow days when there was no school. I remember him offering to get to a hot chocolate:) In later years, when I became employed with the Social Security Administration, in the capacity of my official work, I would visit the Court and speak with my father and Dick. He was always helpful and professional--and still would offer me a hot chocolate! Sincerely, Rich B.

Dear Marianne and family, I am saddened to hear of Chief Carinos passing. I had the pleasure of working for many years at the SDC with him and he was a very caring and professional man. Always looking for ways to help others. He was always dressed impeccably. I regret I am unable to attend his services but kind thoughts and prayers go with him. May he RIP.

Dickie was a kind and gentle soul all his life. It has been said that “When through one man a little more love and goodness, a little more light and truth comes into this world, then that man's life has had meaning." Cherish your memories and celebrate the life of this wonderful man. May he have a breathtaking view from where he is.

Dear family of Dick Carino, We are sorry to read about your loved one’s death in the Boston Globe. He certainly lived a life of purpose, dedicated to public service and involvement in many community activities. Our family knew him when he was growing up in Winthrop as my parents bought our home from his parents right next door! Dick was older than my brother, sister and myself, but his family was friendly to ours as neighbors! My childhood memories are of delicious smelling meals as I walked up their driveway to our back door and of the beautiful rose bushes in their side yard that still bloom there today! His mother was very kind; a quality that I’m sure was passed on to Dick! One morning when I was eight years old, I was bringing up a bottle of milk that the milkman had delivered to the second floor apartment where we lived. I dropped it and it broke into smithereens! We had to leave for school and work almost immediately. My mother mentioned it to Mrs. Carino who happened to be outside. When we came home later in the day, the milk mess was all cleaned up as if it had never happened! We will keep you all in our thoughts during this sad time! With deepest sympathy, The Faria family
