We met Anthony through my brother Marty . First time was in the late seventies when we would travel to Boston. A wonderful spirit that enthralled us with his stories . Over the years we met him periodically in Ireland. He was truly in touch with nature. My son at the time was very young and Anthony sat in the front of my old Renault four and my ten year old son in the back and we headed from Dublin to Westmeath. Then in the distance spread out in front of us was this amazing lake.. 'stop the car' out he disappeared to reappear a half hour later to tell my son he was in touch with the fairies . H and spirits down by the lake. Nearly forty years later every time my son drives past that lake he smiles and thinks of Anthony.

My condolences to all of Anthony's family. In 2004 9 of us including Tony went to Ireland to celeb Bloomsday (Anthony was part of our Finnegans wake group.) We spent great times together and shared some days in his childhood home town. To stay in his home and visit the pub beside his house was fun and enlightening --it made me understand Anthony much more. He was always fun and light hearted but at the same time he could be quite deep and thoughtful. He never stopped searching for answers to know himself better. I will miss him dearly but I know he is resting in peace. In sorrow .....Beatriz

I was in a Finnegan's wake group with Anthony and also went to Ireland for the 100th anniversary of Bloomsday with Anthony and Friends during which time we even spent a night in his family home in Street and visited the local pub. Anthony was a delightful host and a delightful friend. He taught us the song Go Lassie go on that trip. His humor and wit and insights made him such a joy to be around. He will be greatly missed.

I had the pleasure of knowing Anthony through a book group, meeting to work our way together through Joyce's Ulysses. We did. His presence always added a real Irish accent, humorous insights, and keen sensitivity to the literary material. He is remembered. Slainte.

My deepest sympathy to all who knew/loved Anthony. I had the privilege of dancing with him in our group in Newton and in Rockport, and spending a bit more time when he generously offered me rides. He would come for a while, then kind of disappear, then return again, to our great joy. I am saddened to learn of his passing. I found him to be a generous, kind, appreciatively curious and spontaneous person. I came to Gormley on Saturday, but was unable to reach out to any of you. Offering love from myself and the other dancers. Helen

Anthony’s sudden passing was a shock to all of us. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends. Anthony would engage all kinds of people, fearlessly. He did not dismiss others by slotting them into categories. He was interested in “the other”, their perspective in particular, and was not locked into being “one way”. He loved banter, yet was most interested in BIG ideas. He had a fierce sense of family, startling even unto himself! He was acutely aware of the pitfalls of relationship AND open to being convinced! Humor lay in his ability to reverse situations, imagine other possibilities. He had a delightful way of throwing out a comment that would stop one in one’s tracks, and elicit reflection. Anthony, you are deeply missed.

My deepest condolences to Anthony's family. I can see that Anthony made friends and was beloved by so many and I only wish we all had time to say good bye to this wonderful, funny, smart and loving man. I feel honored to have known him for more than 15 years and wish there were more, but life is a mystery. I texted him on Sept 8 for a quick hello and never guessed it would be my last time to do that. May his family be comforted knowing Anthony was loved and appreciated by many. May he rest in peace.
