Peggy was such a wonderful presence on Parker Street. She was thoughtful, caring and a pleasure to be around. We have no extended family locally and on our first Thanksgiving in Westwood, Jim and Peggy came down to knock on our door and invite us over for dessert with their family. We were thrilled to be included and it made our first holiday in a new neighborhood feel like home. Peggy was not phased by my two young children running wild and in fact, seemed to love the bit of chaos they provided. When I had my 3rd baby I was home with 3 kids under 4 years old. During my maternity leave, Peggy routinely stopped by in the afternoon to sit with me and chat. Peggy would hold the baby and our simple conversations made me feel connected to the outside world. Peggy's kindness will not be forgotten and I think of these moments frequently. I will always appreciate that she was looking out for us and we will miss her on Parker Street.

I played music for jim and peg's wedding at a boathouse on the Charles river in 1961 and we have been friends since. Joanne and I cruised together with Jim and Peg, they were a joy to be with. I am so sorry to hear this news. The Roaches were great friends to my parents. I have fond memories of Mrs. Roach. She helped my mother the day I ruptured my spleen. She was already watching other children as well as her own, and then she had the Casey kids to watch. It didn't phase her! I remember coming home from college and visiting Mrs. Roach. She made blueberry muffins! It was so comforting, especially after losing my mother. I will miss Mrs. Roach and am so grateful she was in my life.

There’s something to be said about the Boston Irish Connection. Friends and neighbors become family. Peggy couldn’t walk by #28 without me running out to steal a hug and a smiling face when I was a kid. She used to drive me to irish step dancing on Saturday’s to help with carpools to West Roxbury. It continued on when I had Tiernan. He found his way to Peggy’s heart just like me, and also knew where to find the cookie jar in Peg and Jim’s kitchen on his own! When he was three, Tiernan would proudly tell everyone that he had a best fiend, and her name was Peggy . You’re one in a million Mrs. Roach, and the old neighborhood will never be quite the same without you.
