In 1996, we were so very fortunate to make Father Paul's St. John Chrysostom Church our parish. What a parish, and what a kind and engaging man! May he rest in eternal peace, and may all who were blessed to know him find comfort in warm memories of time spent in his presence. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

What a wonderful priest and man who never forgot were he was from. Always humble and holy and caring for his fellow man whereever he was called to serve. I will always treasure his friendship and faith, and many rides in his boat out of Falmouth harbor on the Adrian II. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." Rest in Peace my friend, the world is a better place because of your gently loving manner!

Fr. Phinn was as good a man and as fine a priest as it gets. He was the pastor of St. John's during my teenage years and his sermons never failed to reach the back row. I won't forget his many kindnesses.

Father Phinn married us 40 years ago this past May 9th at St Mary of the Hills in Milton. He was so kind to both of us. We have thought of him often over our many years together. He was a wonderful, devoted priest. Thinking of his family and close friends at this time. Our prayers will always be with him. Tom and Betsy Pomfred

I will always remember Fr. Paul during his days at St. John the Evangelist in Winthrop. He was a kind and gentle man; very spiritual and very down to earth. I worked for the Parish as well and had the good fortune to work with him. He was a great priest, a good friend, and an important part of our parish and community. He used to referee hockey games for many of the local leagues. No referee ever cleaned up the on-ice language of hockey teams quite the way he could! He will be truly missed. May God now welcome him home and may he reap the eternal rewards of his well-lived life.

Father Phinn was by far the most spiritual, humble and down to earth genuine priest I have ever known. His homilies were always related to the liturgy and so educational and meaningful. We were so fortunate to have him here in Falmouth after his retirement and many of us in the parish were delighted to see he would be the celebrant for Mass. He will be very missed by many but he left all of us the gift of his spirituality and wisdom.

Fr Phinn was a wonderful priest and man. What I will always remember, and a story he told frequently was that a new parishioner told him that they had heard that St John Chrysostom was a church that would take anybody. Fr Phinn replied, "That's right, and, as long as I'm pastor, we always will." True Catholisism. God bless you, Fr Phinn

I knew Fr. Phinn when he was at St. Mary of the Hills in Milton, and he also came back many years later to serve on the altar for the funerals of both of my parents. He ran the CYO when i was in high school, and my friends and I used to go to the weekly CYO meetings early just to hear his "off the record" stories. He was a great man.

Father Phinn will always be remembered for his sermons. He had a way about his work. We met him after mass & we were talking about West Roxbury.
