Kathy, sorry to hear of the loss your husband. Looks like you had a wonderful life together for 47 years. My wife and I had 51 wonderful years so I know how you must feel. Not something you ever really get over but we have to be grateful for what we had. Hope you are doing OK and finding support with your family. I would attend the mass on saturday but am afraid to go to church or to the gym. Try to shelter in place. Hope all goes well for you and your family. I know that it will not be easy

Mike's passing cannot overlooked without a tribute from this first cousin, Joseph Denaro. Although, we were not close, for many reasons on each side of the divide that is "family", we both were grandchildren of Rosa and Melchiore Denaro, and he the son of Sarah Denaro, before her untimely death. Michael, as I called him, was the seminarian of my own youth: A role model for a much younger cousin who himself aspired to the priesthood. It didn't work for each of us, for a host of reasons. I will always remember his "gentle spirit", his warm smile and ultimately, his appreciation of family. Reposa en Pace !

Michael my family truly loved you. You were there when my both parents were in the nursing home together and gave them a checker set to pass the time. Michael you seemed to have always come around when they needed some kind words and you always had the right ones to say. You brought the Holy Name Parish to their home for fatherly visits. God bless you cousin Michael for the world is going to miss you and heaven is getting a new angel.

So sorry for your loss. Mr. Giunta was my Italian teacher for 3 years at Washington Irving School from 1971-1974. He introduced us to the beautiful language. I still remember things he taught us. We were an all girls class and we were giddy and obnoxious and he put up with us in a very fatherly way. He never lost patience with us. They say, “to teach, is to touch a life forever”. He touched ours. We will never forget him. Anette Smigliani-Coyne

Riposi in pace. I will always remember how patient he was teaching our Italian class at the Washington Irving in the early 70's. Thank you for giving us wonderful memories.

My siblings and I were students at the Washington Irving Middle School during the 1980s-90s. We remember Mr. Giunta fondly. He had a great sense of humor and I have some funny memories. While having my 7th grade photo taken, he told the photographer "I want a mug shot for this guy". I also remember him struggling to move weights in the weight room while administering the spelling bee. I offer my condolences to his family.

Saddened to read about Mr. Guinta. He was our Italian teacher, for 3 years at the Washington Irving 1969-1972. He taught us the PROPER way to speak and sing in Italian. I still can remember, him instructing us on sounds. Wonderful memories. RIP Mr. Guinta

I'm very sad to hear of Mr. Giunta's passing. Mr. Giunta was our Italian teacher at the Washington Irving junior high from 1969 to 1972. He taught us Italian in the proper manner and also how to sing in Italian......skills which I have to this very day. He made us all look forward to Italian class, his smile was infectious, and he had the most warm, caring and funniest personality we could've ever asked for. God Bless you Mr. Giunta, God Bless your families and friends. Fino al nostro prossimo incontro! Paolo Marinucci
