CONDOLENCES (GuestBook)

Joe was very much part of our family and we shared many great times together. Joe joined us on several Cape Cod family vacations on the outer cape, where we would enjoy the beach, cook, dine out, relax, walk the streets of Provincetown, and laugh our butts off. We would often meet up and take a ride to Scituate to visit Aunt Eda and Uncle Vin, and of course, “do the loop” consisting of lunch at the Mill Wharf, a visit to the Scituate Lighthouse, a ride down Jerusalem Road, all the way to Hull and Nantasket Beach, where we would explore Fort Revere Park and grab an ice cream on the way home. Joe and our family spent many a New Year’s Eve together, most of them in Boston, where we walk to Boston Common for the fireworks at 7pm, grab dinner at a nice restaurant, and finish the night at the Marriott Long Wharf for the midnight fireworks on Boston Harbor. On New Year’s Day, we would head out early to breakfast in the North End or the Financial District. About 4 years ago we took a trip to New York to spend a long weekend in the Hudson Valley where we visited with Vincent, Denise and Mary, and toured Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate in Sleepy Hollow. From there, we headed to Poughkeepsie to tour the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum, where Joe read every single placard and sign. We did so many more things together that they will not all fit in this small space, but we filled our “free time” with day trips to the vineyard and brewery in Buzzard’s Bay, practiced our Blazing Saddles movie quotes, heard stories about Joe’s days working in Boston, and listened to many highly charged political lectures. His passing is a loss for our family that will never be replaced. Words cannot express how much he will be missed. We love you Joe! Love, John and Cindy

We were so saddened to hear about Joe’s passing over the weekend. We will always remember Joe as a fun loving cousin who struck the perfect balance of being larger than life and down to earth. Our hearts go out to our extended Russo family and we will be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers this Christmas season. Rob, Patty, John and Brian DelSignore

I met "Joe-Joe" via a phone call in the early 1990's. Can't remember now the "why" but we hit it off! Corresponded back and forth; he told me about a Japanese band CD he wanted; I had an airline stewardess who flew there regularly; she picked it up; I sent it to him. End of story or so I thought. He had also send me a picture of the twin towers in New York before 911. Fast forward to early 2000's ... somehow he 'saw' me on Facebook and/or google and we re-connected. Had him over for a BBQ in our CA home; he moved here ...and we debated like forever over liberal vs. conservative ...I don't need to tell you what his side was ... :)

I'm very sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He and I were colleagues several years ago. We had been regularly taking the same red-eye flight from Long Beach to Boston for some time before we finally recognized each other at the airport. It was nice to have conversations about our mutual affinity for the Boston area. I always appreciated Joe's positivity and kindness. Sending my best to his family and friends during this difficult time.
