A great fellow who was easy going, a wonderful priest who cared for his parishioners. Thankful for his friendship and care of Fr. Bill Flynn in retirement. May Paul rest in the Lord's peace & presence.

So sorry to hear of Father's passing. I enjoyed his sermons and his sense of humor. At home now with his heavenly family after a job well done. R.I.P Father.

As a lifelong member of St. John’s I will never forget the many great priests who have selflessly served our parish. There have been so many I wouldn’t dare single any one out. Fr. Paul always will be someone who I know touched my life and humbles me , and like the others, keeps me strong in my Catholic faith. These men, these priests will always be more important to me than any sports figure, musician, anyone because they feed me God’s word, they lead by example, they are a rare breed , they’ve heard my confessions without judgement and always offered their encouragement. Thank you dear God for Fr. Paul MacDonald and his wonderful life.

I was one of many kids influenced by Father MacDonald in his days at Saint Williams. His dedication to the community impressed upon us how much change to young people could be performed by one man. Rest in peace, for a life well lived.

So sorry to hear of Father MacDonald's passing. He was a good friend of mine and my wife Hope who taught kindergarten at Sacred Heart while Father Paul was there. Father Paul would visit Hope's class often. He would always announce himself by tossing his Scally cap on to Hope's desk as he entered her classroom. They were great pals. Hope died this year on February 12th. Father Paul celebrated her funeral mass with Father Sean, the current pastor at Sacred Heart now. We spoke with Father Paul often on the phone. He will be sorely missed.

Fr. Paul became an integral part of the great parish of St. John Chrysostom in West Roxbury. We thoroughly enjoyed his homilies (no matter how long!), his stories, his kindly manner, and his sincere interest in parishioners. May he rest in eternal peace, and may family and friends find comfort in warm memories of time spent with him and of his great many years in service to God.

God bless Father MACDONALD, may he rest in eternal peace. We will miss him very much. We loved his masses, his stories, and his sincere friendship with all his neighbors. His life of service to the church and all the parishioners he inspired will serve as a wonderful legacy.

I was a parishioner at St. Frances Cabrini parish while Father MacDonald was there. He was a kind and gentle man who helped lead the parish through some difficult days. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of a great man...and Priest. I had the honor of working with Fr. MacDonald when he was stationed at St. William Parish in Savin Hill. He was a great role model always visiting the school and thinking of ways to involve the children both during the school day and after school...hence a number of field trips. I appreciated all that he did for the adults and children. He will be missed by many. Keeping all of you in thought and prayer. God Bless. Lauren Beard Kelley

Fr. Paul had the consummate voice of a Catholic priest: clear, soft, comforting. Living on the west coast, our contact over the years was mostly by phone. When I would hear "Hello Bob" on the other end of a call, I knew I was in for a treat. He was a beloved connection with our family roots in Boston and PEI. Fr. Paul was a gracious host whenever we visited Boston. He took us to his favorit places, from Jimmy's Harborside to his local pub. He toured us past his parishes with great pride. He love our family, and we loved him. He is now in great company with our collective PEI family in the next stage of our great journey. (Robert Granger -- grandson of Margaret Fisher Banks)

We enjoyed Fr. MacDonald's company many mornings at MaryAnn's cafe. It was always a pleasure to chat with him. He will be missed by all who knew him. We extend our sympathy to his family and friends.

I am so saddened to hear of Father MacDonald's passing. He was a neighbor of mine. Father's afternoon walk was at the same time as we would be walking our oldest son home from St T's school. He always took the time to say hello, talk to us and especially to our 6 year old about his school day. Truly a kind man. He will be missed.

Prayers for Fr. Paul for a quick entrance into Heaven from all his former parishioners @ St. William's, Dorchester! We all loved him @ St. William's and he had a wonderful impact on all of us from the young to the elderly. We also know he went on to serve and was loved in all his other assignments. More personally, Fr. Paul married my wife and I 51 years ago yesterday - as he did a large number of my wife's St. William's / Savin Hill girlfriends. He will always be special to all of us. Fr. Paul, please keep us in your prayers as you watch down from Heaven on us. God Bless You!

I was so impressed by Fr. Paul's energy level. He would celebrate so many masses on a weekend, traveling around to all the parishes. He liked to ask the community questions about his homilies, to see if they were awake (jokingly). He had a wealth of historical information regarding the Bible and that part of the world. He will be missed.

Fr. MacDonald, was not only our parish pastor, but also our friend. He was a wonderful man. Any work you volunteered for, he was right there beside you working along. We are glad we got to see him a few month ago. We made a plan to do dinner after the pandemic. God had other plans.. God Bless you Fr. Paul, you will be missed.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Rev. Paul MacDonald who I knew as Father Mac. I met him about eight years ago - he and I were railroad history enthusiasts. He had such a gentle way about him and we could talk about anything in his broad knowledge of diverse subjects. it didn’t matter to him that I was Episcopalian (Emmanuel Church, West Roxbury),we simply enjoyed each other’s company for a few minutes, solving all the world’s problems. Fr. Mac was a true man of God and I will miss him dearly.

Greetings, I would like to express my sincere condolences for the passing of Father Macdonald. He was a great role model and influence during my years as a child in Savin Hill at St. Williams School. I recall his toughness tempered with great empathy, dedication to the children and a readiness to praise and reward whenever possible. He would visit my father, Sammy, at our house during summer months which made him appear as a "normal" man to my young self. During my time in SH, I encountered and experienced many priests and nuns, but I assure you, Paul was memorable. I last saw Paul at a Savin Hill reunion event 4-5 years ago, flattered he remembered me. We chatted a bit about the very old days. I assure you he left his imprint on many beyond me. A life well-lived! Be well!
