Billy, Jackie, Jimmy, Ed, Michael John and families. My heartfelt sympathies to you all on the sad passing of Joan. I was devastated to hear of her death and the last of the Shanahan siblings which makes it very final that they are now all gone to their eternal reward. She was a wonderful aunt that I love very much and always enjoyed her company and her great spirit for life. Thinking of you all and so sorry can't be with you at this difficult time. Our many memories will give us strength and comfort at this time. Remembering you all in my thoughts and prayers and I know she is now with her loved ones gone before her such as your Dad William and my Dad her only brother Joh Shanahan. God bless xxx

My deepest sympathies to you all on the death of Joan my sister in law. Joan was full of life and fun and I loved her trips home to Valentia Island. It is sad to think she was the last of the Shanahan's and now she is gone as well. It will be a very difficult time ahead for you all but I know she will be looking down on you so proud of her 5 boys as she always so proud of you all. Always remember that you and your families are welcome to Joan's home here on the Island anytime. Look after each other xxx

To the Beades Family. We all have very fond memories of our visit to see Joan, in her 90th year, little did we realise that we would not have that opportunity again. Now we have no words that can ease the loss of your Mother, just know that all your family are in our thoughts and prayers. From her nieces and great niece in England, Gerrie, Moira, and Deirdre & Anne and her husband Chris

Dear Billy, Jackie, Jimmy, Edmond, Michael John and families, My whole hearted sympathy to you all on the very sad loss of your loving mother, Joan. As the last member of her generation of Shanahans, it is indeed the end of an era. From my childhood, I have many warm hearted memories of Joan's visits home to Valentia, there was always great excitement before her arrival. Joan was always full of the joy of life, with a jovial personality and infectious laugh, she was a joy to be around. Cherish all the wonderful memories you shared together. You are all very much in my thoughts and prayers. May my dear aunt Joan rest in eternal peace. With all my love and sympathy, Colette.

Joan was a wonderful woman who worked for my mother for many years and was very kind to her despite my mother’s health challenges caused by dementia. I hope she had a joyful life.

My deepest condolences to all of you on the passing of your mom. She was a great friend of my Aunt Niamh Conway O’Donohue, both being from Valentia. May she rest in eternal peace
