From all the players at the monthly poker group, Butch will be missed. Even though he won most of the time, his pleasant charm was enjoyed by all and his absence will be noticed. Butch always had a story and a laugh that made the evening fun. Never did Butch, and now we know his name is Donald, complain about all that was bothering him. Always upbeat and not beatable. We all could sense when he had the winning hand as he grabbed his chips with both hands. Very sad and best to all his family. Poker will not be the same.

To the Howell family: I grew up with Butch...yes, at one time he was a kid...We hung out alot. I helped him find nightcrawlers for his fishing expeditions, but there was no way I was gonna put one of those things on a hook! We played card games, board games, and "run diwn" with the neighborhood kids. Nothing ever stopped him from enjoying life. I am very sorry for your loss and hope that your memories, like mine, bring a big smile to your faces...just as HIS smile always did. Rest in peace my friend.

To all the Howell family: The Parkway Croquet League, of which Butchy was a valued member, just found out about his passing. Indeed we are all saddened. For about the last ten years, excluding this year and probably last year, we enjoyed Butchy's presence on Monday nights at our spacious, grassy knoll along the West Roxbury Parkway. His friendship, spirit of competition, and concern for the well-being of others will all be sadly missed by our members.
