Dear Diane: I am truly sorry for the loss of your mother. With all the stories you told me through the years, she was one heck of a lady. My condolences to all of your family. Laurette

I did not knowi Mrs. Florentine personally but I have had the pleasure of beginning to know her beloved son, Dr. Rich, to whom (it is apparent)she gave the gentle smile similar to her own. I am glad for both of them that she was able to have family in proximity.and that indeed, the West Roxbury community has held her in its embrace. I know what Dr. Rich has meant, has contributed by example of living a faith-based life at St. Paul the Apostle parish, so I know by extension that she has been a positive presence at Holy Name Parish. I became disabled a few years ago. I have had some very rough days, and it has been a source of comfort that I can be confident that I will find kindness and a gentle humour in his eyes when I see him. I lost my mother a few years ago; we lived in different regions after I became an adult. It is a great blessing to be near a beloved mother in the twilight of her life. I express sympathy for this family in its time of bereavement. She will be missed, but the Florentine family is a family of faith and so there is confidence that she has gone to be with the Lord and that her spirit continues. Her portrait shows the face of someone who lived connected in meaningful ways to family, to community, and to church. Such connections create an environment in which one can live one’s best life. We can expect that she rests knowing that she has been beloved.
