CONDOLENCES (GuestBook)

Boston, MA,
Sis, it's hard for me to accept that you are no longer with us. By force of habit, I keep entering your name on my phone to send you a text or to share something with you only to realize you're gone. It feels surreal, and words can't express this deep void in my heart now. Your positive presence alone had an impact on many people's lives, mine included. Even while you were going through your medical battles, many of your care providers were astonished at how lively and colorful your spirit was. You kept fighting because you were a fighter. You kept fighting because you once said: "it's too easy to give up" You will ALWAYS be with each and every single one of us. Forever. Cancer may have taken your body, but it definitely did not take your spirit/soul. God truly blessed us by having you imparted in our lives, and for that as family and friends, we are all forever grateful for your life and legacy Shirley. Thank you for being you. I will always love you. Be with God sis, be with God.

To the family, I am so grateful to Shirley for allowing me, to come and visit her at anytime. I am honored, for Shirley in allowing me the joy of ministering for her celebration of life. Shirley is a woman, who showed me how to be strong and always trust and lean on the Lord for all our strength. Carla

My deepest condolences and prayers for comfort and “peace” to the family and host of friends. Shirley will be remembered for the life so full of joy she shared with others and for her example of persevering faith, strength and courage. I’m sure many of us count it a blessing and are thankful for the time we had to spend with her before she went on to dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Blessings! #beloved #sweetrest #inthepresenceoftheLord #alivingtestimony #cheerishedeternally

I can't believe you've left this earth when your cheerful spirit is just what it needs, Shirl. I will never forget that laugh and your ability to find the humor in any situation. May you rest in peace and my condolences to Zeke as well as the Milfort and Louis family.

Shirley, Your spirit and your smile is what I will cherish most about you! Despite what you were going through you lived and demostrated what hope looked like. I will never forget you and the time we came to your home for your wine tasting/shoe swap. These are the images and memories that I hold in my mind and heart of you. Us laughing and taking pics at your home made photobooth! Your jokes and our girl talks. God has called home an angel! Rest In Peace by dear beautiful friend! Umasss!!!!

To the end, Shirley was a true inspiration and an elegant, but fierce fighter. How we cope with her absence is somewhat softened and smoothed out by how well SHE prepared us...in the delicate and inclusive way that only “Shirls” could pull off. I have never met anyone else quite like her; someone who lived and made the most of life consistently, bringing joy and positivity with her everywhere. Even if you went stretches of time without seeing her or talking to her she would pick up where you left off as seamlessly as if you had just seen her the other day. It is truly as blessing to have had you in my life, Shirley, and although it hurts to know you have moved on, we can be comforted by knowing you are a believer and your soul and spirit are with the almighty. God bless you and your family, in God’s name.

I selfishly spent many days and nights supporting you from a distance because I only wanted to remember you for being my vibrant Aunt. Always smiling and giving advice. I regret not being there went it mattered the most. Witnessing you fight this thing to the end struck a nerve in me. It woke me up. It showed me your strength and it showed me how strong I have to be during my time here on earth. I never seen you cry. I admire your Royal Power. You will always walk with and talk to me. I’m going to physically miss you but spiritually I know you’re still here with your Family and Friends. I LOVE YOU SHIRLEY. Your name alone breathes JOY!!! See you on the other side.

My heart goes out to Shirley's family. I was fortunate to met Shirley while attending Lasell college. Shirley had such an infectious personality, She would liven up the room with her laugh and her bubbly personality, also moving and grooving. She has left us way too soon. Shirley you will always be in my heart and memories. Xoxo. Darcy

My condolences to Shirley’s family and her son Ezekiel , my prayer goes out to the family. I feel honored to have known Shirley and call her my dear friend. she was a beautiful soul inside and out. She was a strong, courage and fierce sister. She fought the battle of her life with cancer but she did it with poised and dignity. The earth lost a great human being on 9/8/17 but heaven has gained a phenomenal angel. May you Rest In Peace my beautiful friend. I will miss you so very much but you will always be in my heart.

Shirley I am still lost after hearing about your departure to a better place. You are a true symbol of joyfulness and with your fun spirit and caring heart, you managed to touch everyone that crossed your path. I can still remember your laughter and your contagious personality. I know you don't want us to mourn but celebrate your life but is truly hard. You will be incredibly missed by all and I hope we will see you again. Caring thoughts to your family and you did not lose your fight because you never gave up... You where just called to a greater and bigger journey... Fly high my friend.

My heart is heavy to see Shirley go. She was so young. I will remember her for the fun loving person she was. She was a social butterfly, tell it like it is woman. Not afraid to bite her tongue. Strong, sophisticated and beautiful inside and out. She was a wonderful mother. Always there for her son. She was proud to be a mom and loved her son dearly. I remember our children went to preschool together. We also celebrated a few birthday occasions together. I will miss Shirley. Wish I had more time to spend with her before her passing. Glad Shirley thought of me and reached out to me. It’s the thought that counts and it made me feel special knowing I meant something to her. You will always be in my heart Shirley. Rest in power!

Sending the biggest embrace possible to Shirley and her family and loved ones. Additionally, she was cherished by a group of wayward folks who became a kind of family during a 4 month process to rehearse and perform in "Le Grand Continental" , presented by Celebrity Series in Boston. Shirley was a big hearted and big moving presence in this new venture among others, most of whom did not come from a dance background. She was vital and assuring presence in the group. Wishing Shirley and all who loved her peace and joy in this next part of her journey.

To my Dear sister Shirley: It took me that long to write something because it hurts... In life we said the old dies first but in this story it was my younger sis at 42 years old... I miss you, your text, words of encouragement (specially when I'm upset). Your smile always brighten the room wherever we at. So funny I was thinking if you ever got mad at me? I can't even recall. That's the sister I had... Respectful to others and always goes with my opinion. She often said to me ( Didine, I know you got this)... I will miss you making plan to take my Grandson (Ethan ) on adventures. At last I want to thank everyone from Medical fields, Spiritual friends, School friends, Neighbors, friends from everywhere. My family and I appreciate all the visits, cards, prayers just to name some. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of Our Hearts. Will see you all this Saturday November 25th at 4pm at St Angela's in Mattapan. Rest In Peace Shirl. See you at the other end

I had the privilege of knowing Shirley because she entrusted her Greatest gift to my care her son Ezekiel... at Twelfth Baptist church Sunmer program and The S.A.M.H Afterschool program. THEY where both a special part of the programs. Shirley was ALWAYS passionate about every project she became involved with or in. She would brighten the room upon entering. She would always have an encouraging word even on hectic days. While juggling school and work. I never heard or ssaw Ms. Shirley complain. It was an honor and privilege to been apart of her journey. Rest peacefully Ms. Shirley.... your teachings, LOVE, dedication and passion WILL sustain Zeke through this transition in his life. You gave him the skills to be a kind, considerate and caring Man. PPEACE AND BLESSINGS TOO YOUR FAMILY. We at TWELFTH BAPTIST Church will continue to pray for your families COMFORT and strength in the months ahead. MS. JANYCE

Somerville, Massachusetts,
Shirley and I got to know each other during performance that brought together many people from all walks of life but with at least one thing in common, a love for dance (even those that never danced themselves). We spent many hours of practice on 'our line.' I got to know this really amazing person who loved life, family and friends. I was so sorry to hear of her passing but I am blessed for having Shirley in my life even for a brief time. My heart-felt condolences to Shirley's family, may your memories of her give you peace.
