To the Harrington Family - I was lucky enough to get to know Dean Harrington on the Boston Campus. He was a very patient man that was never too busy to stop and say hello to everyone. He was so well respected and admired by all. My sympathies to all of you. He was one of a kind. Steve Nasson Tufts University Facilities Department

I am so sad to learn of John's passing. He was an inspiration to me and everyone he touched at Tufts University's School of Medicine. All of us on the faculty were blessed to have him as a dean, just as I was lucky to have him as a friend and close colleague. He left an interminable mark on our school, as he changed lives, everyday. He will be with us, always...

My condolences to all members of the Harrington Family. I loved being John’s colleague and friend at Tufts Medicine. The Harrington Scholarship established at TUSM in his honor was done so by an anonymous donor who was taught by John decades ago. This individual’s significant donation acknowledged the profession that John had shared with him and made possible. I am confident that there are hundreds of other students, residents, physicians and colleagues who feel similarly indebted to John. I feel privileged that John and Trudy allowed me to be a part of their lives at Tufts. God bless John and his entire family! RAM

John was one of the sweetest guys in the world. I still have his autographed copy of HOW THE IRISH SAVED CIVILIZATION, one of the dozen copies he kept in his office. He was also a doctor's doctor, as well as the physician you went to for your parents or in-laws. John was one of a kind: the best kind. Trudy had a treasure for a long time.

Trudy, JTH was my mentor and friend. He believed in me, guided me, and due to his mentorship, I became a geriatrician and academic. He will always have an enormous place in my heart

I am so sad of Joh passing away. John was truly the most compassionate man that I ever know in my life. I was honored of my association with him as a scholar, outstanding educator, Dean of TUSM, and my partner in the international affairs operation. I will miss him. God bless his soul.

I am sorry to hear of John’s passing, especially so late that I cannot attend any of his services. John became president of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Kidney Foundation while I was Executive Director there and it was an honor and a pleasure to have served with him. His contributions to that organization were considerable and he was known not just as a leader of the board and phenomenal medical mind, but equally valuable because of his unwavering commitment to patients and their families, and for his ubiquitous sense of humor. Memories of our times at National meetings will always be fondly recalled. Thank you to his family for loaning him to us during those times. I will raise a parting glass to his memory - May it be eternal.

Trudy, Sorry to read of John's passing. I knew when you and John did not attend the Annual Durfee Alumni meeting in May that he was not well. My condolences to you and your children.
