I met Billy when he arrived in Boston and he then met and married the love of his life. He was such a lovely man and made a positive impression on everyone he met. It was always nice to see them come into a dance or a club we played at. My Dad, Terry Landers, thought Billy was one of the nicest people he ever met. During that time, our annual visits were an opportunity for Bill and I to talk about--and to marvel at--the world around us and the people in it, to catch up, and, always, to laugh together. Over the time we shared, I came to appreciate Bill's candor and sense of humor, his attention to detail, and, above all, his deep humanity and kindness. Bill's death saddens me beyond measure. I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Bill. I first met Bill and Bridget when I was stationed at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome NY, in the early/mid 70's. Bill was always helping someone with something and was a mentor in life to many. His depth of knowledge, reasoning capabilities, wit and humor were among the things I most admired about Bill.
