Obituary

Clinton, MA
Paul R. Silva, Jr., 52, resident of Clinton, MA, and beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away surrounded by family and in the arms of his wife at Vibra Hospital, Rochdale, MA, March 3, 2016, of complications of pneumonia. Paul was born in Marlborough, MA, on January 7, 1964, the third child and only son of Leona (Nordelo) Silva and Paul R. Silva, Sr.
In his too short life, Paul touched hundreds of people with his kindness, humility, wisdom and love. He was known for his joy in befriending everyone with whom he came into contact. In his younger years, he spent many happy days at the Boys and Girls Club of Hudson and as a teenager was a star on and co-captain of the Assabet Valley Vocational Technical High School of Marlborough, MA, football team. After breaking his neck in a diving accident at age 18, Paul began his lifetime career as a printed circuit board designer for Raytheon.
He came to know the Lord as his savior at 30, leading to nearly 20 years of volunteering with the youth of Grace Baptist Church in Hudson, MA. He was privileged and deeply honored to be a part of so many lives of teenagers who were all dear to him. It was also through volunteering with the youth that Paul met his wife of 12 years, Lynette (Pitman) Silva, who loved him with her whole being as he deserved. Together they were honored to serve in 2016 as deacons for Hope Chapel in Sterling, MA.
Paul was deeply proud of his godchildren, five nephews and many cousins whom he loved. Many of his happiest and fondest memories were times spent individually and together with “the kids.”
Paul was preceded in death by his uncle Robert Braga and cousin Debra Braga. He is survived by his wife Lynette Silva; mother Leona Silva; sisters Sandra (Donnelly) Marks, her husband Bill Marks, and Donna M. Silva and her husband Christopher West; nephews Andrew Kurzontkowski, Samuel Kurzontkowski, Dillon Kurzontkowski, Joseph Ogden and David Ogden; aunt Aida (Nordelo) Braga; cousins Robin (Braga) Zagwyn, her husband Robert Zagwyn and children Kevin Sullivan, Erynn (Zagwyn) Brun, and Erica Zagwyn; uncle Aprigio Nordelo, his wife Diane Nordelo and children Corie (Nordelo) Gregg, Dawn (Nordelo) Smith, and Joseph Nordelo, and their children; uncle Joseph Nordelo and his children Megan Nordelo and Molly Nordelo; close friends John and Nya Saliga and James and Roberta Mullett; and many more cousins and friends who loved him.
Visiting hours will be on Monday, March 7th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA. Funeral services will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 353 River Road, Hudson, MA, on Tuesday, March 8th at 11:00 am. Burial services will be held privately at a later date in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the UMASS Marlborough Hospital Intensive Care Unit in Marlborough, MA, and of Vibra Hospital in Rochdale, MA, for their conscientious care and concern for Paul. Special thanks go to Dr. Mostafa Noury for his treatment of the whole patient and his family and to N.P. Estrela Chaves for helping Paul have many more strong and healthy years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation in search for the cure for paralysis. Flowers can be sent to Tighe Hamilton. Condolences can be shared on the Tighe Hamilton website obituary page at http://www.tighehamilton.com/Obituaries.html.
