Mr and Mrs Dukes were so much a part of my growing up at Sycamore Baptist Church. They were very good friends to my parents. Both wonderful people. Mrs Thurles was a wonderful christian lady. I have such wonderful memories. Debbie, Susan, Darel and family, you will be in my prayers.

Family, I was saddened to read that Thurlis had passed. What a beautiful lady, inward as well as outward. When I think of her, I think of her as the kind and caring nurse at the Doctor’s Clinic. She was such an asset to each of the doctors. Over the years after her retirement, I would see her about and she always took time to stop and chat. What a record! Seventy three years of marriage! Derell, you “robbed the cradle”! You are to be congratulated for your dedication to one another! May God continue to bless you and give you comfort in your grief. Proverbs 31 is a powerful message about a godly woman which is a rare thing today; but I think it describes your sweet love one.

She was beautiful on the outside as the inside,a devoted wife,mother,grand & great grandchildren, entire family.She was welcomed with open arms by my granddaughter "Shelby" and can keep each other company. I am so sorry to hear of Mrs.Dukes passing. She was my neighbor for a short time, when I was in my early 20’s. My oldest daughter was 3, at the time, and she called her “Mrs. Bukes”. We all thought that was so cute. She was such a sweetheart of a lady, and she will be greatly missed.

Sad to learn that Thurles has passed away. I was fortunate to work with Thurles for 7 years at Ashburn Doctors Clinic. Some days work was hectic, but she always remained calm and reassuring to patients as well as co-workers. She lived a Christian life, apparent to all who knew her.
