New Bedford – David G. Wilkinson, 62, of New Bedford passed away September 19, 2019 at The Oaks.
Mr. Wilkinson was born in New Bedford, son of the late Robert L. and Martha C. (Souza) Wilkinson and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was employed by Titleist for most of his career, operating the golf ball press. David was 10th generation Mayflower descendant of Myles Standish. He loved Cats, not the Andrew Lloyd Weber production, but the animal. Between following his favorite football team, the Rams, David enjoyed playing video games. The excitement and challenge of playing a flight simulation could never match the thrill he felt of reeling in a large mouth bass at Seven Ponds. David's vast music collection spanned several decades and even more genres. The Wilkinson family encourages those who had the privilege of spending time with David, to share their favorite memories of him.
Survivors include his son: Jeffrey D. Wilkinson of Pawtucket, RI; his stepmother: Maria da Paz (de Sousa Alves) Wilkinson of New Bedford; a sister: Patricia S. Hood of Sunland, CA; 2 brothers: Paul J. Wilkinson of Palm Springs, CA and Richard G. Wilkinson of Bridgewater; 1 niece and 2 nephews.
Funeral services will be private. A Mass will be held in his honor. The date will be announced in the coming weeks.
