Obituary

Carol Mercer came into this world on July 26th 1939 in Fall River, MA, She celebrated her younger years with her large family of brothers and sisters. Carol spent her teenage years working at The Academy Theater in Fall River where she always had a “Hollywood” story to share about the latest movie, fancy cars, or the newest dress styles. She graduated from Diman Vocational High School with a focus in home economics and this is where she found her love for sewing. Carol was considered a master seamstress and was always willing to take on the hardest tasks from boat sails to costumes.

Carol’s real passion was taking care of children. She was a nanny to so many and always had a way of making any child feel peaceful. Some liked to call her the child ‘whisperer”. On Saturdays you could always find Carol with her sister Joan Ciosek out “sailing” looking for the best deal at a yard sale. We never knew the next treasure that they would bring home.

Carol always inspired her children to be the best they could be and always gave the most sensible advice that one could offer. Those that were close to her knew that you could always count on her to pick up the phone and just listen when you needed it the most. She was a therapist that we called Mom, Auntie Carol, or Meme.

She was preceded in death by her mother Edith Marquis and father Leo Marquis. And her brothers and sisters. Connie Marquis, Barbara Dymek, Leo Marquis, Arthur Marquis, and Frankie Marquis. Also her late husband and loving father to her children Robert T. Mercer Sr.

She is survived by her partner, Robert Griffths whom she shared her later years in life with. Her sister Joan Ciosek who was her best friend and confidant.

She will be continuing her life through her children: daughter Linda Mercer Botleho and son in law Roger Botelho; son Robert T Mercer Jr ; son James Allen Mercer, and daughter Lorie Crockett and son in law Eric Crockett. Her beloved grandchildren Jillian Mercer,Janelle Mercer, Alex Mercer, Lily Mercer, and Aja Crockett. And many nieces and nephews who she always held an open door too.

Even though our beloved mother and meme passed away on April 17th, she will be furthering her journey in spirit on the ride “Thunder Mountain” in Disney World, her forever happy place.
Carol loved her children, grandchildren, and many other souls that she touched along the way.

We will forever adore and remember you. We will stand taller and stronger knowing that you are with us in spirit---always believing.

Carol’s family will be celebrating her life with a private ceremony. Her family thanks everyone that has reached out and shared their stories. It’s been pretty amazing to hear how one lady touched so many.
