Leonilde “Leona” (Cabral) Rodrigues, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Joseph V. Rodrigues.
Mrs. Rodrigues was born in Ajuda Da Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Azores, daughter of the late Luiz and Abigail (Perreira) Cabral and had resided in Westport for 70 years. She was a communicant of St. George Church, Westport where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and sang in the choir. She also volunteered in the cafeteria at the Montessori School. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, loved history and was an avid reader. What she loved most of all was being a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and hosting family gatherings.
Survivors include her 2 sons: David Rodrigues and his wife Eduarda “Connie” of Westport and Louis Rodrigues and his wife Victoria of Westport; her 3 daughters: Donna Dragon and her husband Peter of Westport, Joanne Wright and her husband Thomas of Kansas and Louise Rodrigues and her husband Daniel Luter of Westport; 7 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Laurie Menard, grandmother of the late Adam Dragon and sister of the late Joseph, Louis, Antone and Armand Cabral.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, February 22, 2021 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M.
Interment will be private.
