Obituary

Teresa R. “Teri” (Giannino) Gumkowski, 74, of Westport, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Charles R. "Chuck" Gumkowski.

Teri lived a life of selfless service in her community which will have an everlasting ripple effect that spans the world. She was a living example of unconditional love and loving without expectations. Words poured from her heart and into the lives of countless many. She sought joy in supporting the passions of her children and grandchildren relentlessly. Her life lives on in her family who will continue her wishes to “let your faith guide, your gifts light the way and your love be without condition”.

She was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT daughter of the late Richard J. and Mary R. (Golger) Giannino and had resided in Westport since 1970. For the last 15 years, she worked as an administrative assistant for St. Julie Billiart Parish in Dartmouth. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport.

Survivors along with her husband include her 5 children: Charles R. Gumkowski, Jr. and his wife Megan of Portsmouth, Brian J. Gumkowski and his wife Jessica of Carlsbad, CA, Katrina M. Faherty and her husband Sean of Concord, NH, Andrew J. Gumkowski and his wife Tanya of Somerset and Timothy J. Gumkowski and his wife Patricia of Portsmouth; 2 brothers: Donald Giannino of NY and Richard Giannino of CT; a sister: Mary Ellen Giannino of CT; and 5 grandchildren: Connor, Riley, Jackson, Lucy and Quest.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, November 21, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.

Memorial visitation will be Friday, November 20 at the Potter Funeral Home from 5-8 P.M.

Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Society of St. Vincent de Paul District Council of Attleboro, 31 Stonefield Court, North Attleboro MA 02760.
