Michael S. O’Neil, 55 of Little Compton passed away on Friday October 9, 2020 At St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the son of Jane E. O’Neil of Little Compton and the Late John “Michael” O’Neil.
Michael was born in Fall River and had resided in Little Compton most of his life. He had a love of the sea, working vessels from Westport to New Bedford. There was nothing he could not do from the engine room to the wheelhouse. He was proud of his service with the Seabees. Michael was generous to a fault and would give you the shirt off his back even when he did not have much to give. He gave right to the end including being an organ donor. Michael was also an avid history buff that enjoyed reading and watching documentaries.
Survivors along with his mother include his son Michael O’Neil Jr. of Newport, longtime companion Sheila Mataronas of Newport; 3 stepchildren Mia, Gary Jr. and Christie Mataronas. Daughter Tara Pavao of Westport and granddaughter Everly. 2 Sisters; Elizabeth E. O’Neil of Somerset and Jennifer A. O’Neil of Little Compton; along with Niece Isabella O’Neil of Somerset, Nephews; Peter Gauthier of Fall River, Thomas and James Rodriques of Little Compton.
He will be Sadly Missed!!
