Such a sweet man Fernando. Sweet, kind and generous. He was smarter than all the rest of us but he used that brilliance to help the world. He was a man to be admired and cherished. Rest In Peace Fernando, your life meant a lot to many.

Mary and the Beltran family. I deeply saddened to learn of my greatest mentor's passing. There are no words, only emotions that can represent the impact Fernando had on my career and life. He was an engineer's engineer and beautiful human being. I'm honored that you mentioned the words that I wrote for his plaque and that he appreciated the little we could do to honor him. He is always in my heart. Mike and Kathy

Our hearts are heavy as the reality of Fernando’s passing suddenly hit us today. My youngest said tonight: “It tears my heart apart.” Our daughters considered Fernando their adopted Grandfather. He bought the house across from ours in Mashpee just a few months before our first daughter was born - 24 years ago. Fernando and Mary shared nearly every important occasion for our daughters from Christenings to college graduation. In-between times were often spent at “Wicked” where we leisurely ate, laughed like crazy and topped evenings with loaded brownie sundaes. We never worried about Fernando’s nightly bedtime because he rarely went to bed at night - he went to work. Fernando never really retired. He humored us with promises to take retirement seriously at some point but we suspected that as humble as he was, He would be hard to replace. That made him feel good - to be of value to Raytheon and his adopted Country - the USA. We hung on every word Fernando uttered and treasured his delighted laugh. His magic tricks never ceased to amaze. While Fernando’s brilliance would be hard to surpass, he found others fascinating. He listened with deep interest to anything you said and would ponder the words then ask probing questions out of pure fascination for your well-being. Fernando’s gentle humbleness was only exceeded by the purity of his soul. Our deepest sympathy to Mary and to Fernando’s family.

I was saddened to hear of Fernando's death. I worked with him for many years at Raytheon. He was not only a brilliant engineer but also always a gentleman. I greatly enjoyed my time working with him. Condolences to all who knew him.

It was a privilege to know and work with Fernando. One of his rules was that once an analytical tools was completed he then would run test cases to verify that results were accurate. He had a very even disposition and generally always had a smile. I was fortunate to encounter him at the Boston Symphony as we were both members. Always a pleasure. There are givers and takers, He was a giver. The world has been a better place for his being here. One of his habits that was never challenged. He would normally arrive in work about 10:00 am but he would then work until 9 or 10 in the evening. We are lucky to have had him for many years.
