Kathy and Kristine - I am so very sorry for your loss! Wayne was a dynamic character, and I know his passing will leave a large hole in the lives of every who knew him. We really enjoyed the time we spent with all of you. Wine tasting in Washington, and skiing with Wayne at Sunapee were highlights, and I held out hopes of getting him onto the slopes here in Colorado. My deepest sympathies. - Jim

Wayne and I have been friends for almost 50 years. We taught together in Waltham and as young teachers we complained and bragged equally but most especially reveled in righting the "wrongs" of school administrators - actions and attitudes we took pride in decades later when we shared the same stories over again with beers or coffee - while we quietly acknowledged that the stories were getting better and better - as were we. Wayne was always available - he offered work when I needed it, suggested a house to rent, and went out of his way to introduce me to people. He regularly loaned equipment or vehicles - a log splitter, dump truck, and the like - And he personally intervened on wintry days to do a quick hit of the driveway with his plow - because he "just happened" to be in the area doing another drive. We spend the Blizzard of '78 in the cab of his truck trying to figure out where we were in the whiteout conditions. He provided friendship always. Wayne - I will keep telling the stories - thank you for being such a good friend to me. I will miss you very much. billc
