CONDOLENCES (GuestBook)

Sending sincere condolences from myself and my friend Connie Ahara. She worked directly for Ernie at GTE. I was in System Engineering. We found him to a great person to work with. Part of the solution, never a problem. We both liked him a lot. I’m sure our late friend Barbara Sullivan would have said the same. Ernie was a special rare person.

Dear Lorraine and family, It has been our privilege to know Ernie as a good acquaintance for over 45 years. Through Boy Scouts and town politics and events, we interacted with Ernie (and you, Lorraine). It always was a pleasure to spend time talking about our common interests. Ernie's pleasant and low-key demeanor, his ability to stay calm and look at the positive side of things, and his gentle love of life is something we are sure all your family will miss greatly. Fondly --- Sheila and Rich Davison

Dear Lorraine, It is with heartfelt sadness, that I let you know that I grieve your loss. It was a pleasure to work with Ernie at GTE in the last years of his career there, a fine man, no pomp or ego and with great integrity.Ernie was well admired by all who worked with him. When we had a moment to chat he would tell me about Ruthie and your early morning treks to Boston hospital to soothe & comfort her. I remember the tale of the 'lost' wedding gown, found in time for your 2nd daughter's wedding. I will not forget his determination to honor me during Secretary's week by transporting me in that 'van' to meet you at a nearby restaurant! This is the time to reminisce, to go way back, and relive the joys and sorrows of your journey together and celebrate those memories. This is an exercise I have adopted, since losing my beloved almost seven years ago, and can tell you it does get better and there is no need to rush the process. If there is to be a memorial service at some point, I would appreciate being included, if possible. Sincerely, Marge Sheetz

In life, once in a very great while you are associated with a person that truly has an impact on you. Ernie was that person for me. He hired me for my first job out of college. From that first day until he retired many years later he mentored me on work (and life). I and my family owe him an extreme debit of gratitude.
