Dear Joy, We were so saddened to read of Al's death. It must be doubly hard for you since you can't have friends and family to comfort you during this trying time. Not only were Al and John colleagues at Northeastern University for over 30 years, we all shared a great love of Golden Retrievers and even adopted two puppies from the same litter who were both loved and cherished throughout their lifetime. We also so enjoyed the parties and dinners at Chez Viola during these many years. John and Al shared another common identity having both escaped the Nazis and adapted to a new country. We send you our sincerest condolences and hope that someday we will be able to visit you in person. With deep sympathy, Evelyn and John Neumeyer

Very sad to hear of Al's passing. He was a good friend, a generous man and an honored colleague. We will miss his smile, wit and company. Our thoughts and prayers are with Joy and the family. Love Bob and Judy

Boston, MA,

Joy, Tracey shared with our team this weekend that Al has transitioned. I know I do not have the relationship that you had with Tracey, but I wanted to share with you the deep sorrow that I feel for you on the passing of your wonderful life partner. We will all miss Al’s presence as he had such a positive impact on so many. As I reflect on our last conversation, without a doubt, Al’s legacy is one that we will continue to ensure that it is passed on in the way that he would have wanted at Northeastern and beyond. Thank you for sharing him with us. I feel so blessed that I had the opportunity to meet him. Please do let me know if there is anything at all that I can do for you now and in the future.
