My deepest condolences to the Hynes Family.... I was a colleague of John's at MIT for the last 15 years. He was wonderful to work with. He was very knowledgeable and caring about staff. Please find peace in knowing that he made a great contribution to MIT and all who came in contact with him.

Orlando, FL,
Debbie, Erin, Sean and Auntie: I cannot even begin to express how deeply sorry I am for your immense loss. I have been so blessed to be a part of your family for as long as I can remember. Your family means the world to me and John was an integral part of that. I will forever treasure some of my fondest memories of John; being brave enough to take Erin and me trick-or-treating around Ponkapoag when we were kids, our infamous Disney family vacation and being “Wiggy” :) He was a wonderful man who did so much for so many and he will be greatly missed. I love you all so much and will see you soon. xoxo

My sincerest condolences to the Hynes family. John was the very first person that I met at MIT, when he interviewed me for a position in OSP back in the 1970s. We were colleagues in OSP through the '70s and interacted at MIT over my 25 years at the Institute. When John was in LCS (preCSAIL), he organized a discussion group for administrators from the big research labs. That was back in the 1980s, and it was a great way for research administrators to get together over lunch to discuss common concerns. John was always a supportive colleague. Sincerely, Donna Maria Ticchi

Its hard to talk about John in past tense without feeling a hard lump in the back of ones throat, but he was more than just some fellow we knew at work, he was a person that truly cared about everyone... he will be truly missed.

I am so very saddened to hear of John's passing. John was my manager and then my colleague for many years at MIT. He was someone I could go to for advice, guidance, or if I needed someone to talk to. He was truly a wonderful man and I will miss him.

Dear Debbie, Erin and Sean, I have known John for many years. The last time we met was at an outdoor cafe in Cambridge and before parting I looked at him thinking 'here is a person of faith as deep as the ocean and grace of the gentlest wind. I squeezed his hand good-bye. Like others I'm sure he will always be with me, in a special place. Life's journey is long with many turns. Remember well the many rich moments you shared. John would want that. Warmly, Jim Dezieck
