Bob was a brother-in-law and a very respected friend who was always there when the need arose. Was grateful to have him with the family fold. Only hope he was able to take his golf clubs with him. est wishes to his family.

I have known Bob for many years as we were both longtime members of Wampatuck Country Club. Many knew Bob as a great golfer, but certainly for those that knew him, he was a better man. Bob was a visionary who served Wampatuck in many capacities. In his later years when he was no longer golfing, he would stop by often on weekends,I think to be around the guys and to some extent to be around the game. I made a point to stop in to say hello before or after a round to chit chat about golf or any topic of the day. I will miss his smile, his quick wit, and his knowledge of the game. A true legend! R.I.P. Condolences to his family. Bill Wirta

When I was a kid at Wampy Mr. Dowling always made time to ask how sports and life were. He would take the time and I will always remember that. As an adult now I can appreciate how important something like that is to young impressionable kids. I am glad to have bumped into him a couple times over the past year. RIP

Bob was a cool guy, I was 18 the first time we met, I had borrowed his company car to make a bank deposit for Kemper. Somewhere along the way to the bank I crashed his car. When I gave him the news, he looked up at me and said, no worries they will give me another and smiled... In the course of the next 40+ years the times we bumped into each other we would laugh about it. Bob will always be a cool guy!!

It is with great sadness that I learned of Bob's passing. As a young man in the insurance business he was both a gentleman and a mentor to me. He always made time for a conversation and some advice. I know his legacy lives on with his wonderful family.

My sincere condolences to Betty and her family. My husband Gerry was a friend of Bob’s at Wampatuck for many years. He always spoke highly of Bob and had great respect for him. I saw Bob many times over the years at Wampatuck and at St Gerard’s. I remember as a true gentleman! Peggy Sullivan
