I have sorrowfully just learned of the passing of Jerry Foley. What a loss to laughter in our world! He and my husband, Pete Roberts, were friends through insurance—Jerry kept trying to sell Pete more insurance, and Pete was resisting. They wrote to each other, and I just found a hilarious letter from Jerry that Pete had kept for years. (Pete died a few years ago, and I’m still finding things he’d saved.) Pete had told Jerry that we were moving to the west coast, and Jerry responded, “If I couldn’t sell him in Iowa, how the hell am I going to sell him in Oregon?” Blessings to all of Jerry Foley’s family.
