This is is tough news. Marty was the chef at our fraternity house, (AEPi) in the Back Bay in Boston, MA in the early 80's. I was co-steward for a couple of years, so he and I worked side-by-side a lot. I remember he helped me pick out my first purchase as an adult (a chef's knife) ... helped me really understand "Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" ... and was the first cool "adult" I met during that part of my life. He made a big impression on me, was one of the kindest and gentlest men I've met ... and am very, very glad that our paths crossed.
