Dear Janet and family.... Mere words do not do justice to describe the enormity of your loss. Please know that I, along with so many other people, truly care and will continue to say prayers that you will be strengthened with the knowledge that Joel was in your lives albeit not as long as we would have all liked. May his memory put a smile on your face and the good times you shared remain in your thoughts.

Joel and I attended school together from our days at the Dean S. Luce school right up into our high school years...he was my first crush in 3rd grade...he was so adorable... When he lived in Stoughton he loved feeding his ducks...he had quite a group and they would come when he called...I loved seeing that. My deepest sympathies extend to his family . The CHS class of "72" will miss him. ...RIP Joel..

Our lives were always a bit brighter when Joel was present. He and his family often welcomed us into their home for countless hours of gatherings which will always bring warm memories. The ‘72 classmates that were lucky enough to know him, understand the energy he brought to the party. We share a sadness to be sure, yet we also share without question a memories of delightful times spent with Joel. RIP old friend. Alway, Tony

So sorry to hear of the unexpected passing of Joel at what is now considered a young age. I knew Joel as a fellow realtor. Always professional, well versed and honest, Joel set a good example for the industry. May Janet find comfort in her son's well lived life and having done a real good job in raising him. My heart breaks for the family for such a profound loss. Joel, rest in peace now that you have fulfilled your duties on earth.

We will always be grateful for Joel's dedication to spreading the word about MatchingDonors.com. He would tell everyone he met about our mission to help people needing organ transplants, whether it was at the corner store, a restaurant or the golf course. Some patients found their living donors and received their life saving kidney transplants because of Joel. We will cherish the memories of working with Joel, and we pray that he is at peace and reunited with his wife Linda and his dog Marley. Paul and Carol Dooley and all of us at MatchingDonors.com

WOW I was stunned to hear of everybody’s friend Joel’s passing. Knowing Joel for over three decades has been a pleasure. Always greeted by his infectious smile. Someone much wiser than I had stated that it isn’t the amount of time that we are on this earth but what we do with the time we are here. Joel has helped change many people’s lives especially with his commitment for organ donors. His legacy will continue for many years. I, myself , signed up to be an organ donor because of him. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you through this difficult time. Rest In Peace my friend

MEMORIAL TO JOEL PRATT By Edson Rafferty Passed: June 19, 2019, Age, 65 Joel Pratt was very kind and caring Family Man, Dog-Lover, Humanitarian, “Bon Vivant,” Successful Realtor, Realtor, Successful Businessman, Eternal Optimist, a Major Contributor and Supporter of Time and Money to “ Matching Donors,” a Profit Health Organization, MatchingDonors — and an All-Around Fine Individual, and a Friend to Everyone Who Ever Met Him !!! HE WAS AN ALL- AROUND, REALLY NICE GUY !!! I am not the ideal person to be writing this Memorial — BECAUSE — I didn’t know Joel Pratt since birth; — I didn’t grow up with him; — I didn’t go to school with him; — I didn’t go to college with him; and, — I didn’t know him in his my formative years, or even in his young adulthood — like most of the people here in Canton, Massachusetts — knew him... I got to know him during the last 17+ years, as a friend and as a business associate, at MatchingDonors, where the National Board of Realtors Awarded him the highest Award they give for his outstanding charitable work on behalf of Matching Donors. He was also Recognized by the Massachusetts Senate and Legislature for these same Charitable endeavors... As a result of these gratuitous efforts by him on my behalf, I got to know Joel much better, and I received a new, live kidney to replace my kidneys which were destroyed as a result of a surgical accident. For personal and business reasons, I was out of town at the time of his Wake/Viewing and his Funeral — and as a result, never had the chance to say these things to his many friends and family... The things I saw about Joel Pratt that really impressed me — to name just a few things — were: — His optimism, and his ability to always see the bright side of everything, and everyone; — His ever-present kind-heartedness; carding, and gentleness toward everyone he met and everyone he worked with; — His ability to work for hours and days and never seem to get tired or discouraged; – – His enthusiasm and total positivity for everything he did and everyone he met— no matter how large or small the task; — His fearlessness in approaching and doing everything He did and in meeting everyone he he ever met — no matter how large or small the task, and no matter how “important” or “unimportant” the person; — His humility, gentleness and kindness, and equality he showed in his dealings with everyone, regardless of their importance, position, or fame. To be sure, like everyone else, Joel had his short-comings — Joel was not perfect — but who ever is??? Even Jesus lost his temper and whipped the Rabbi’s at the Temple gates for money changing... But to my mind, Joel Pratt always seemed to me to have the innocent kindness, gentleness, and faith in people of a child. The great American philosopher of the 19th Century, Robert Ingersoll, said at the death of his beloved brother, “If, for each kind deed he did, a rose were placed upon his grave, he’d sleep tonight beneath a Sea of Flowers...”. So it was with Joel Pratt...
