Mrs. Kral was my 7th grade English teacher and I LOVED her. She is my favorite teacher to this day. She was so kind, patient, and truly made her students feel special. We loved her hats! Such an amazing woman, and I have always had great respect for her. A beautiful and classy lady, always dressed to the nines with a FABULOUS hat collection! My heart breaks for her family with her tragic passing. My sincere condolences to you all.

I met Cathleen from her Reading Apprenticeship work. I didn't know her well, but I knew her well enough to know that she was smart, funny and super dedicated to her work! She lit up a room with her energy (and of course, a hat!). I know she will be missed.

Wellfleet, MA,
To the Kral Children - George and I were devastated by the news of your parents' tragic death. Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this time. We are truly sorry we can't be in Canton for the funeral but we will be thinking of you this weekend. Your parents were very special, loving people - full of life and always interested in others. We will carry many happy memories in our hearts of the times we spent with them, and will think of them every time we pass the Mad Hatter in Ptown! Much love, Mark Gutierrez and George Herrgott

Dear Family, I worked with Cathleen through Reading Apprenticeship for almost 10 years. I will always treasure her as a dear colleague and friend. I learned so much from her wisdom about literacy and life. She lit up whatever conversation to which she was a part. I also had the joy of being in Fred and Cathleen's home and they made it a happy event with their gracious and warm hospitality. They are deeply loved and cherished by many and will be missed greatly. I thank God that they were a part of my life. Donna

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of the remarkable Cathleen and Fred. I had the great pleasure of working, traveling, and laughing with Cathleen (and sometimes Fred too!). They led full, generous, exuberant lives and helped many students and educators over the years. Myself and all of her Reading Apprenticeship colleagues will miss them dearly. Rest in peace Cathleen and Fred.

Cathleen was a mentor and friend to me. As a Southern California girl she convinced me to move to Boston and work with her in BPS. I am so glad that she did because I learned so much from her and consider her one of the most passionate and talented people that I have ever met. I am devastated by the tragic news of her death. My condolences go out to her wonderful family and friends.

Dear Family Members, It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this note. Please accept my deepest condolences and prayers at this difficult time. I had the great fortune to work with Cathleen as part of the RAISE group in Indiana for a number of years. Cathleen was a friend, a guide, and a mentor. She stayed at my house during one of her myriad trips to Indianapolis and was so much fun to entertain. She was charming and always full of life. I have great memories of spending some time at your parents' home. They were consummate hosts and took great pains to make us feel welcome. I learned a lot from them. Cathleen will always have a cherished place in my heart. I am grateful that both Fred and Cathleen were a part of my life.
