My sincere condolences to the family on the passing of a true gentleman and neighbor. Jim was a good friend to my parents and when I was back in Sharon, I enjoyed chatting with him when he was out for a walk. Passing by the house daily on Pleasant Park Rd. was a time for Jim and I to catch up and trade some crazy jokes! He was Great at telling stories with hilarious endings where you could never really know if you should take him seriously, as he delivered all these stories with a perfectly straight face and then, after the punchline, he'd walk away leaving you with a good laugh and a smile. It is an honor to say I was fortunate to know him well enough to see the fine, caring Christian man he was!!

I was blessed to know Jim throughout my career with Barnes & Noble. To us, he was known as "Gym Phitts". While he wrote, he joked with us and even allowed the occasional musical interlude. Jim once convinced me to sing "Danny Boy" (his choice), out loud in the cafe. This remains one of my favorite memories. My condolences to the Fitzgerald family. And to Jim, take it easy on them up there. They'll catch on.

I will always remember Jim sitting in the B&N cafe--in His spot and on His chair. His chair was quite heavy and after closing one night, I moved it so it didn't have to be lifted onto a table. The next morning Jim was sitting in His spot and on HIS chair with an adorable smirk on his face. Just that one thought of him brings a smile to my face. My condolences to his family.
