Obituary

Richard R. Bourcier, lived life to its fullest. Always genuine, fun loving and kind. Born in Woonsocket on January 24, 1966 he was the beloved son of the late Sylvio and Leona (Dussault) Bourcier. Rick grew up in Woonsocket where he graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1984.
Rick fiercely played and coached soccer His teammates lovingly referred to him as boo~9. Rick graduated from The University of Southern Maine as a proud Sigma Nu Fraternity brother. Employed by Goodwill in Gorham, Maine and Idexx Laboratories in Portland, Maine. Rick was often heard throughout the day greeting each employee with his contagious smile, playing practical jokes and lending a helping hand whenever needed.
Ricky was a lover of nature. He was an avid hiker, reaching the peak of Mount Katadin several times. Kayaking and rafting throughout the state of Maine, West Virginia Gauley River and Colorado. But mostly you would find him on his beloved Sebago Lake where he to relocated nine years ago. Rick was a die-hard fan of the Yankees, Raiders and Montreal Canadians. We can thank his older brothers for this. Whether you had known Rick for a lifetime or just a few moments, you loved him instantly and found an everlasting friend in him. His big beautiful heart and gentle soul will shine on through us always. Rick passed away on August 16, 2017 surround by his family and friends. His passing was unexpected and untimely. To say he will be missed is an understatement. Rick is survived by four brothers; Ronald, Michael, David and Dennis Bourcier, and four sisters; Diane Fafard, Linda Beauchemin, Anne Marie Halberg, Jacqueline Bourcier and is predeceased by his sister Shirley Ruhland. Rick had several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by friends too numerous to count.
All who knew Rick knew his love of music. Up there in the great big sky we can listen and hear these words echoing out~ Honey, I know, I know
I know times are changing
It's time we all reach out
For something new, that means you too
You say you want a leader
But you can't seem to make up your mind
I think you better close it
And let me guide you to the purple rain...
Calling hours are Saturday September 16 from 12-3pm at Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Following calling hours relatives and friends are welcome to celebrate Richard's exceptional life at The Lower Level Bar and Grill, 175 Eddie Dowling Highway North Smithfield, RI In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Maine Medical Center Special Care Unit, 22 Bramhall St. Portland, ME 04102 in recognition and gratitude for the outstanding care Rick received while in their care.
