Rest in Peace Mr. Musial. A good and valued friend of my dad, Richard (Dick) Carney. Mr. Musial and dad were college friends and we spent a lot of time with Mr. and Mrs. Musial, Steve, Wally, Susan and Sandy on Harding's Beach in Chatham, MA on Cape Cod. Against our protests, Mr. and Mrs. Musial sold the Chatham home and purchased property in Maine; so while we did not see the Musials as often, every year we would load up the car and drive up for a visit to swim in that freezing cold Maine water on a variety of lakes at some pretty cool houses (Saco was one I think). Anyway, we had the best times with the entire Musial family. Treasured memories include the time Dad and Mr. Musial were shooting the breeze on Harding's while Steve buried Wally (while standing up in a massive hole they dug) on the beach - Wally was buried UP TO HIS NECK. Steve proceeded to run circles around Wally - really close to his head and Wally was getting dirt IN HIS FACE - while dad and Mr. Musial continued conversing as if NOTHING was going on. So laid back and involved in catching up as good friends do. (Meanwhile, I am traumatized by the visuals but it makes me smile in a fondly reminiscent way - life seemed carefree in those days!). Times like those are priceless. Thanks to Mr. Musial, I have this memory. I also remember Mr. Musial as a gentle, kind, engaging and supportive person. My heart goes out to all of you. What a loss, but at the same time, I am confident that you all feel very blessed to have had a wonderful husband, dad, and grandfather, with a lifetime of awesome memories.
