My brother Charles Bowman has passed away. He lived April 14, 1953 to April 15, 2019. 66 years and 1 day. In talking about him, where shall I begin? Charles' only nephew, my son, summed it up best saying to his uncle ‘You were such an affable and unbothered soul, with the wisdom and countenance to match.’ Or his only niece, my daughter saying, ‘As the other half of my wonderful father, you are an amazing man. So kind, so loving, so go with the flow. The kind of get along with everyone type personality that I strive to have.’ Charles (aka CB) grew into that affable adult but he had a rough side as a child. We were 13 months apart in age. When we were 10-16 yrs old we had the occasional fist fight and he won every single one! He was heavier and taller, which made me the punching bag. Around age 15, I remember telling him he was a fighter but I was an intellectual. He laughed about me describing myself in that way for years! I was the better student in our youth, but it was amazing what a wise and learned person CB grew into! He became an engineer by trade and retired from Raytheon Corp., when he got sick, after almost 30 yrs of service. I sought his opinion and perspective on a multiplicity of things, most notably financial matters. CB was expert at handling money i.e., he was extremely frugal!! Charles’ email address began ‘2-4-1 guy,’ which tells you how hard he would look for a bargain! Before he met his wife but after he had relocated to Boston from Detroit, Charles and me along with wifey Phyllis would meet in New York every year, for almost 10 straight yrs, to hang out and do NY stuff!! We were in Times Square in NY on New Year’s Eve 1979 turning 1980, with a million other people, to watch the ball drop. What an incredible memory!!!! The annual NY trip was a summer pilgrimage until wifey first got pregnant in 1985. CB would visit Detroit Christmas week and 4th of July week every year thereafter. He would hang out with us and his best friend, Lloyd Walker. Charles married Dr. Maru Colbert in 1991 and stayed happily married until death did them part yesterday, 28 yrs. later. They traveled the world in their spare time and had a great life together. They had no children but were very doting on ours. We saw them 4 times over the past year, rather than just twice, including only 2 weeks ago, which was a gift from God. Charles was sick with cancer but well enough to travel and before the stroke. He was himself and we got to be with him one last time…… CB, the hole you’ve left in my heart cannot be filled. We had such a great childhood and adolescence together!! Now you have gone to be with the Lord. I will see you on the other side, big brother!! Missing you…….

Dear Sisterfriend, "May tender memories soften your grief, May fond recollection bring you relief, And may you find comfort and peace in the thought Of the joy that knowing your loved one brought... For time and space can never divide Or keep your loved one from your side. When memory paints in colors true, the happy hours that belonged to you." --Helen Steiner Rice My prayers are with you and I am a phone call away. Your friend, Debbie Cox

I worked in Charlie's area that he covered at Raytheon. He would pull up a chair and talk almost everyday. I loved his happy nature and him and I seemed to be on the same page politically. I and everyone I've talked to are going to miss that great jolly guy. I was very sad to hear that even though we all prayed for his return he succumbed after all. God Bless His Soul
