Obituary

MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA: Charles Vickery, 78, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Cambridge on February 13, 1934, he was the son of the late Daniel N. and Mary (Butt) Vickery. He had resided in Manchester, New Hampshire for many years before moving to Manchester-by-the-Sea six years ago.
Charles was employed as a manager for Richard’s Department Store in Lebanon, NH for many years. He enjoyed walking Stacey Boulevard in Gloucester, ballroom dancing, reading and doing cross word puzzles. He also was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriot’s fan.
He is survived his two sons, Richard Vickery and his wife Alberta of Alaska and Mark Vickery and his wife Beth of Connecticut; his daughter, Laura LaMontagne and her husband Jim of Vermont; several grandchildren; three brothers, John Vickery and his wife Joyce of Beverly, Robert Vickery and his wife Romona of Florida and his best friend, Walter Vickery of Manchester-by-the-Sea and his companion, Carol Stevens of Gloucester; a sister, Ann Trupiano and her husband Joseph of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by two brothers, James and William Vickery and a sister, Alice Ross.
His funeral services will be privately held in the Cambridge Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the “Resident Activity Fund” of the Essex Park Nursing & Rehab. Center, 265 Essex St., Beverly, MA 01915.
