Obituary

William Joseph Scott, 63, died Wednesday March 6th in the Brockton Hospital He was the husband of Cynthia (Pierce) Scott.

Born in Brockton, son of the late Hubert and M. Evelyn (Brown) Scott. He was raised in Abington and was a ’61 grad of Abington High. He later attended Lowell University where he received his bachelor degree in civil engineering. He spent his entire career of 40 years working for the Mass Highway Dept. till his retirement in 2005.

William was a longtime member of Union Congregational Church of East Bridgewater. He was a member of the choir, served as a trustee, and was the chairperson for the Memorial and Endowment Fund.

He was a member with his wife of the Southeastern Mass. Festival Chorus.

William was also part of the re-enactment militia for East Bridgewater during the Centennial in 1976.

William was very active locally as well as regionally for the Boy Scouts. He was the Troop Master and held many other roles with Troop 29 in East Bridgewater. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow Society within the Boy Scouts as well.

Mr. Scott was also active at the East Bridgewater High School where he was a Music Parent and part of the Cannon Crew at the Home Coming and football games.

He enjoyed his family, friends, camping and hiking.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Tom Scott and his wife Jenni of Los Angeles, California; his daughters, Jennifer Newman and her husband Dan of Holden, MA, Amy Rucci and her husband Brian of Suffield, Connecticut, Megan Harper and her husband Greg of Denver, Colorado; a sister, Barbara Manning and her husband Frank of Rockland, MA. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 nieces and nephews.

A Funeral service will be held at the Union Congregational Church, 105 Pleasant Street in East Bridgewater at 10 AM on Saturday March 10th. Burial will follow at the Fern Hill Cemetery, High Street, Hanson. Visiting hours are 5-8PM Friday March 9th at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman.
