Obituary


On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, Frances Zaleskas joined other family members in their heavenly home.
She was born in Boston, MA to Felix and Anella Zaleskas on July 20, 1937, the youngest of five children. She leaves behind siblings Florence Zaleskas, who resides at 264 Bowen Street, South Boston, MA and Marie Ruka, who resides with her husband Edward at Linden Ponds, Hingham, MA. Frances also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandneices and grandnephews. Sister Eleanor Fisher, brother Edward Zaleskas, and their parents will welcome Frances in the afterlife.

Frannie was a devout Catholic who loved the church. She spent several years in the convent before returning to the secular life and working as an adjuster with John Hancock LIfe Insurance. Frannie was a devoted member of several church communities including St. Augustines and St. Peter’s Lithuanian Church, both in South Boston. She served as a lector and chaired several church committees. She was a passionate pro-life supporter and was especially devoted to the Virgin Mary.

In her youth, Frannie was a talented softball player and an avid bowler. She appeared on the TV show “Bowling for Dollars” and won several trophies for her accomplishments. Frances had a special place in her heart for animals, especially cats and dogs. She fostered many pets in her lifetime.

Frannie will be sorely missed by her many friends, neighbors, church community, and family.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Lithuanian Church, 75 Flaherty Way, South Boston, MA, on Wednesday, April 24 at 11:00 am. Calling hours will take place from 10:00-11:00 at the church prior to mass.
