George William “Bill” Harvey
United States Navy Veteran

George William “Bill” Harvey, age 87, passed away peacefully at Heatherwood Retirement Living on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

He was the beloved husband of Janet B. (Andreason) Harvey, who passed away on October 29, 2002.

Born in Woburn on February 5, 1937, he was the son of the late John B. Harvey and the late Minnie F. (Tetford) Harvey.

Bill was raised in Woburn with his brothers Jack and David Harvey and sister Sally Ann Butcher.

After graduating from Woburn High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Sixth Fleet for 3 years. until his honorable discharge from active duty in 1957.

Following his honorable discharge from active duty, Bill started working for High Voltage Engineering in Burlington.

He met his dear wife Janet Andreason in Woburn, and they were married on June 14, 1959.

Bill later worked as a Sales Representative for several area companies until retiring in the late 1990’s.

Over the years Bill and Janet summered on Squam Lake in Holderness, NH and traveled extensively.

Bill was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Tewksbury, where he served as a Trustee, Deacon, and Treasurer for 32 years. In addition, he enjoyed caring for the grounds at the church by planting flowers and maintaining the prayer garden which was dedicated to his late wife.

Bill is survived by his four children, Carolyn J. Ahern and her husband Colin, Steven P. Harvey and his wife Sandra (Pellegrino), Cynthia J. Mahoney and her husband Thomas, and Jonathan A. Harvey and his wife Tara (Bird); his eleven grandchildren, Brendan, Andrew, and Ashley Ahern, Jesslynne Harvey, Edward Guide, Jr., Russell, Morgan, and Trevor Mahoney, Jaclyn, Thomas and Steven Harvey: four great grandchildren, Mason, Isla, Twyla and Madeline. He was the brother of the late Sally A. Butcher, David Harvey and John B. Harvey, Jr. He leaves his dear friend of Eleanor Howland, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Calling hours are Tuesday, April 23rd, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 24th, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1500 Andover St., Route 133, Tewksbury. Those attending the funeral services are asked to please meet at church. Services will conclude with interment at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
